Saif Ali Khan lucky to have me in his life: Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan brought the curtains down at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 showcasing ace designer Gaurav Gupta's line on Sunday. Reacting to the compliments she received at the event, she said that her husband, Saif Ali Khan, surely is a "lucky man" to have her in his life.

When asked how Saif reacts to the compliments that she receives, Kareena said, "I think it's the biggest compliment for Saif. He is a lucky man for sure."

It was the first time that Kareena and Gaurav collaborated for a fashion show. The 34-year-old actor looked her stunning best as she walked down the ramp wearing a black flowing sheer gown, a piece from the designer's collection, which was in tandem with Lakme's Sculpt line. Kareena, whose outfit was a playful juxtaposition of Gaurav's signature drapes and structure, said she loves working with new designers like him.

"It's very interesting to collaborate with new designers every time during the finale. I admire the novelty and quirk that new designers like Gaurav bring to the table. I think the fashion industry needs such creative minds," Kareena said. Keeping with the theme of the show, the designs, which were all women's wear, consisted of sculpting with fabric as well as on stage.

A huge installation of a lady was set up in the middle of the circular stage. Models one-by-one emerged from the small pit inside the statue and spread out on the runway, which also consisted of stairs. The piano and cello added to the tempo of the show as models walked to its rhythm at Mehboob Studio. "It was an exciting pressure to be a finale designer. It is a first for me. We celebrate our decade today and Lakme celebrates its 15 years. The music was very unique because we did a very artistic setting. The clothes are also very sculptural. We kept the music romantic and (such) which fills large spaces in a beautiful way," Gaurav said.

Dune-like textures featured in the garments through boning and silver rivulets and large ruffles swayed through the drapes. The fabrics used were mostly neoprene, tulle, silks and georgettes in colours like gray, black, ivory and red. The show, however, was low on celebrity turn out with only Dia Mirza, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prateik Babbar, Shriya Saran, Zayed Khan in attendance.

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and actor Saif Ali Khan are one of the most loved couples in Bollywood. They are madly in love but Kareena texts someone late at night and it definitely isn’t Saif.

Well, Arjun has accepted that he has a huge crush on Kareena. A source close to the actor revealed, “Arjun has a huge crush on her. He has told her that she’s the best reel wife he could have.”
And Kareena knows about Arjun’s crush too. “He claims that he’s my biggest fan. He’s a mad man! He says he knows and has watched every movie of mine and mugged up all my dialoges. Every day, on the sets, he will spout one dialogue from a random movie of mine. Arjun tells me that he’s been tracking me since June 30, 2000 when Refugee released. We Are in No Rush to Have Kids, Acting is Our Life': Saif Ali Khan

The one question that most married celebrities cannot escape it the one pertaining to their choice of having or not having children

 

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are no different and have been constantly plagued with questions regarding their decision on having children together. While this is Kareena's first marriage, Saif was earlier married to actress Amrita Singh and they have two grown up children, Sara and Ibrahim, together. While Kareena said there are no plans at least for the next two-three years, Saif was quoted saying that they are in no rush now.

 

During the promotions for his film Phantom Saif Ali Khan, when asked if he and Bebo are planning a kid, said “Kareena and I are not in a rush to have kids. Right now, acting is our life. Also, we want to enjoy life with each other.”

 

Earlier even Bebo told PTI that there are no plans as such. “As of now there are no plans (to have children) and I am very clear about it. Of course I will be a mother someday but not for the next two three years. It is not even a thought,” said Kareena.

Women of B-Town unite for #GirlRising

Nothing brings attention to a looming national issue like Bollywood does. Better late than never, some big names of B-Town have joined hands to bring to light the impending issue of girls' right to education.
Though actresses Priyanka Chopra and Frieda Pinto joined hands first to produce Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbin's Girl Rising - Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi (she will learn, she will fly), now actresses Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen and Nandita Das have also joined the cause. What's more, Star Plus is airing it, on August 29, at 1.30 pm.

The 2013 two-hour long film narrates the stories of eight girls from Afghanistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Nepal, Peru and Sierra Leone, and their fight to realise their dreams. The Hindi version features PeeCee, Freida, Nandita Das, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra and Kareena Kapoor, with the story being narrated by actor Amitabh Bachchan.
"Woh Padegi, Woh Udegi… it's what I've truly believed in and it's a motto shared by every one of the amazing women who have joined me on this journey for Girl Rising. We've all come together to narrate real-life stories that highlight the amazing, positive impact that education can have on young girls. We believe that storytelling is a powerful way to inspire people and also to empower them to take action," Chopra said in a press statement.
"There couldn't be a more appropriate day (Rakshabandhan) to bring to every Indian a movement that is so crucial in changing the way we perceive the role of girls and raise our boys in our country," Pinto said in the statement.

Kareena dons corporate look for ‘KI and Ka’

Actress Kareena Kapoor will don a completely new look in her upcoming film ‘Ki and Ka’ to be directed by R Balki. The ‘Heroine’ actress has appeared in a variety of roles in her 15-year-long career and now for the first time she will play a corporate woman and will be seen in stylish formals to fit the role.
“I am quite excited about the corporate look for my next since it’s my first-ever, unlike my earlier characters,” Kareena was quoted by a national daily.
“She will be donning the look of a corporate woman in pant suits and knee-length skirts for the first time in her career, and she is excited about it. Personally, Kareena loves the look,” a national daily quoted a source as saying.
Kareena who worked-out to achieve a ‘zero figure’ for her 2008 film ‘Tashan’ is training hard for this film as well. “She is doing Pilates. Even when she is shooting, Kareena trains during her breaks at the studio’s gym, and has a light lunch at 4pm. She is completely committed to her workout regime, and hasn’t skipped a single day,” the source added.
‘Ki and Ka’ is a romantic comedy about a married couple whose relationship challenges the society’s norms for gender roles.
The film stars Arjun Kapoor opposite Kareena. Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are also cast in the movie.

Actresses Nandita Das, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra and Kareena Kapoor are featuring in film 'Girl Rising - Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi', produced by actresses Priyanka Chopra and Freida Pinto, who are also the brand ambassadors of the initiative, and will also star in it.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has pitched in with the narration.

'Girl Rising - Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi', directed by Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbins, had released in 2013 and showcases the stories of eight resilient girls from different countries who battled obstacles to achieve their dreams.

The Hindi version of the film is all set to air on Star Plus at 1.30 p.m. on August 29 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The film is a collaboration between the government's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign and Star TV. It will also be released on digital platforms in both Hindi and English.
"Woh Padegi, Woh Udegi... it's what I've truly believed in and it's a motto shared by every one of the amazing women who have joined me on this journey for Girl Rising. "The child sex ratio in India is a matter of concern for all of us. Time has come to initiate more interventions and consolidate our efforts to secure the future of our girls," she added.
Star India CEO Uday Shankar said: "On this Raksha Bandhan, Star Plus will be presenting Girl Rising - Woh Padegi, Woh Udegi, a ground-breaking film designed to inspire a billion imaginations. We believe that the happiness of a nation depends on how we treat our daughters."

Shahid Kapoor reveals 'shocking' secret about Kareena's 'Udta Punjab'

Actor Shahid Kapoor reveals that nobody was ready to do his upcoming film "Udta Punjab" as it was a dark movie.
Shahid, who is working with Alia Bhatt in "Shaandaar", said it was he who convinced her to be part of the project.
"We were trying to make 'Udta Punjab' for a year but no one wanted to do it as it is a dark film. I told Alia that there is a role which in my understanding is one of the finest roles for a female actor," Shahid told reporters here last evening at an event.
It was within two days when Alia gave her nod to the project which also stars Shahid's ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor Khan.
"She (Alia) read the script and called me crying as she was moved by the film. She agreed to do the film and it is very brave on her part.
"There are very few actresses who like to step out of their skin and not worry about looking good and play the character. I was very proud of her that she said yes to the film. She has been making some brave choices," he said.
"Udta Punjab" is an upcoming thriller film, directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures. It tells the story of substance abuse in the Indian state of Punjab.
Even director-producer Vikas Bahl was toying with the idea of narrating the script of "Udta Punjab" to Alia but it was Shahid who made the "Highway" actress read the script.
"Doing this film was a big deal for me. I am an adorer of him ever since I saw 'Ishq Vishk'. He has cute dimples, he is a very good dancer and an actor. He has a happy vibe," she said.

Kareena Kapoor Khan goes chic for Ki And Ka; to sport a new hairdo and wardrobe

Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Singham Returns, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Satyagraha - In each of her last four films as a leading lady, Kareena Kapoor Khan has taken the 'desi' route with Salwar-Kameez forming a major part of her wardrobe. In fact the same is expected in her next release Udta Punjab as well, which is set in the heartland of Punjab.

Well, not anymore, as for the film that goes on floors next which has Balki calling the shots, Kareena would be turning seriously chic.

"In Ki and Ka, she is playing a modern independent woman. Since the film would be arriving in 2016, the whole styling of Kareena is being done keeping that in mind."

The last time Kareena went glamorous was in Talaash, but since her part was that of a street walker (and ghost), she couldn't quite go the whole hog. However, she played a quintessential 'heroine' in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine (2012) but that was a good three years ago.

"Well, no more Indian girl avtar for me at least for the time being," chuckles Kareena, who is moving away from her 'desi' avtar, a la Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Singham Returns in Balki's film, "This film has an altogether different space, which means I need to be in a completely different look."

Considering the fact that Kareena has Arjun Kapoor for company for the first time ever, both actors are covering an extra distance to make sure that their on-screen compatibility comes across pretty convincingly.

One major change that Kareena is bringing in her look is cutting her hair short. This isn't all as she is also changing her hair color. So from the dark hair in her last few films, Kareena would now be sporting golden/brown hair. This is being done while keeping in mind the international color palette that leading ladies in Hollywood boast of.

Meanwhile, it is back to losing some weight for the film, a process that Kareena started some time back and the results of which are now notable with Balki getting ready to call the shots. So, is it back to Size Zero for Kareena?

"Arrey nahi," Kareena comes up with a hearty laugh, "It is definitely going to be a much slimmer look, but no Size Zero for sure."

Someone Should Make a Film on Kareena: Siddharth

Bollywood actor Siddhart Malhotra, who is awaiting the release of his movie "Brothers", wants someone to make film on actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as she is a "thoroughly entertaining" person. Kareena has made a special appearance in song "Mera Naam Mary" in the film, which she has performed with Siddharth.
"We got along well. She is thoroughly entertaining. She loves what she does and that shows on screen. We were shooting in the night for days and she used to rehearse a lot. With every prop her team used to come and click pictures, selfie and all that," Siddharth told PTI in an interview here.
Recalling the shoot with Kareena, Siddharth who calls himself as a big fan of hers, said, "She is entertaining. I like the way she goes about her work. She used to pose with all the costumes and props. It was a great fun. I used to watch her and think someone should make a film on her."
The "Student of the Year" actor candidly said that it was difficult for him not to look at Kareena in the song. "I am a big fan of hers. I would love to work with her in a film. I wish I had more work to do with her. Even in the song she comes to me but I don't look at her. I told our director Karan Malhotra that why am I not allowed to look at her but Karan wanted me to be the angry young man," he said.
Siddharth said it was difficult for him to take his eyes off Kareena.
"It was tough to take your eyes off her. I was not allowed to look at her. It was difficult not to be brooding, not to romance her and not to dance with her. I wanted to break into dance with her but I couldn't. I had to concentrate on my character and it is correct for my character to be like that. It goes with flow," he said.
"Brothers", the Hindi remake of Hollywood film "Warrior", stars Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez, apart from Siddharth. It is slated for August 14 release.
